Ballot statement for the November 2, 2004 ballot
Cheryl Kinsman
Mayor of Laguna Beach, Certified Public Accountant
Laguna Beach is a paradise. We must preserve it for future generations.
For nearly 30 years my husband, sons ages 17 and 10, and I have lived in Laguna Beach, where I am a Certified Public Accountant. During my four years on the Laguna Beach City Council and as Mayor, we:
- Became the leading city in reducing coastal water pollution.
- Stopped El Toro International Airport permanently.
- Assured that Laguna Beach is in excellent financial condition, while other cities are struggling.
- Ensured our arts heritage by signing new 40 year leases with the Festival of Arts and the Laguna Playhouse.
- Reversed years of infrastructure neglect.
- Acted on Vision Laguna 2030 recommendations.
- Opened three new oceanfront parks: Treasure Island, Brown's Park and Smithcliffs.
- Renovated Village Green Park and Bluebird Park, including a new rocket ship.
- Initiated computer upgrades, providing community access to city information.
My commitment is to protect Laguna Beach by:
- Adding parking to reduce traffic congestion.
- Developing a more amicable design review process.
- Expanding free tram service.
- Continuing top-quality fire, police and lifeguard service.
- Keeping our hospital in Laguna Beach.
- Increasing protection for our tidepools and beaches.
Vote Cheryl Kinsman, Certified Public Accountant, for City Council. As partners, we can preserve Laguna Beach's special qualities.
